So I spent my Saturday night with my boys over in town again. How lovely. Dad made a funny remark upon reaching Cineleisure - "There's no one here who's of my age, is there? But it's okay, I'm forever 20. With 25 years of experience for now." Lol, seriously, my dad lives in denial pretty well. That's not really a good thing for denial serves as one of the signs of mental instability... but I love how Dad makes it a point to spend time with us - and trying his best to remain hip! And I don't care if I'm getting older and should be spending Halloween or any other Saturday nights with a huge bunch of friends, I always enjoy going out with my dad and my little monsters. The best guys I could ever ask for in my life. Don't know where I'd be/what I'd do without them, no matter how they drive me nuts most of the time ♥♥
Oh and I played pool for the first time in my life! Dad and Safiq taught me how to, though they were laughing at me throughout the one game I played. Geez it was my first time, of course I looked retarded in my attempt to look sexy and cool aiming at the damn balls. Lol Anyway, we caught 'Footloose' after that at midnight! The movie was pretty good, in my opinion. Won't say it's amazing, but I'll give it 3.5 out of 5 if I have to rate it. Completed our Saturday night out beautifully indeed.

Got a couple of hours' sleep before Dad woke us all up again to visit the cemetery. Went to late mama's grave for it had been more than a month since we last visited. Like previous visits, I felt the same bittersweet melancholy hanging in the air, among the countless tombstones and graves sprawled all around. It's an aching sort of beautiful - the whole scene. I don't know how to describe it exactly but it never ever feels, that my late mama has passed on more than four years ago. It's always only when I reflect upon it that I'd realise how much time has flown by. Surreal, indeed. The dead lives on in our hearts, each and every one of them. The memories fade, that's undeniable, but their spirits live on. In my heart, always - my mama's somewhere inside ♥ Al-fatehah.

In the evening, Dad brought us out again to have a feast. We were all hungry and complaining like babies cause Dad decided to go all the way to Geylang for dinner! But I must say, we were all satisfied by the delicious spread of food over at 'Evertop Restaurant'. Featured in Straits Time as one of the top 5 places for its chicken rice, it did not disappoint us at all! I could the rice on its own, no kidding. Ah, it was definitely worth the journey to and fro. When it comes to good food, we can always trust the old man :D

I decided to procrastinate further, simply because it's still Sunday. 'The Reader' moved me to tears, surprisingly (or not). I was contemplating watching it for I've always wanted to read the book first. But I figured, why wait when I have it in my laptop already. And it was a smart decision indeed. I loved how intricately the movie has been plotted. The subtle ways in which the characters come alive - much more alive were the emotions. Like a bildungsroman, the movie shares a life story of Michael Berg, who fell in love and had an affair with a much older woman, when he was only 15. I hate to go into details and telling the whole story right now so just catch it if you can. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now my heart's sinking at the thought of tomorrow being the last day of October, and the start of another week. I foresee long hours of further sinking my face into books/notes/papers/essays, etc. before the exams... which officially start on 19 November, for me. Oh fuck. I will remain hopeful, yes. |
